A person spends most of his time in the office that he is working at. No matter if he owns the office or works at someone’s, a person always aspires for a working space that is comfortable and convenient. It should also be inspiring and uplifting.
Office design is a fun as well as a challenging task. The office décor needs to improve the mood, efficiency and productivity of employees. An office has to incorporate spaces with different environments, it also has to give enough freedom to employees to decorate their own space and it has to reflect the ideology of the brand at the same time. An office consists of various small ideas building up to a belief that is shared commonly.
Bringing to you a few ideas to help you design your office!
Decide the theme
Select a theme for the office. Decide the type of atmosphere that you want to encourage in most of the spaces. For instance, if you want a serious professional outlook, an informal studio for encouraging the employees or a relaxing work vibe.
Integrate different environments
You can’t have the same atmosphere in different parts of the office. Distinguish the spaces that are formal and informal; serious and light; personal and public. It becomes easier to design when you know what you want to portray from the space.
Take in the natural light
It is proven that the natural light boosts mood and improves the efficiency. So, it is recommended to bring in the natural light in the office. This also gives you an option to see the beautiful outside view whenever a refreshment break is taken. That is why corner offices are always in demand.
Color selection
Incorporate the colors of your logo to form the color theme of your office. Go for dynamic colors to boost creativity. Lighter colors to show calm and bold colors if you want to give a casual and informal office environment.
Reflection of the company
Try to show the vision and mission of your Brand in the form of art in your office. This is an indirect and long way of keeping your goals in front of you. The 2D logo of the company can be converted into a 3D sculpture or the color theme of logo should be taken into the palette of office décor. The décor should speak for the office. It should communicate with the clients from the moment they enter up till the time someone attends them.
Furniture
Furniture is a very important part of an office décor. The desks, tables and chairs can have a diversity depending on the space, while the color scheme can unify it. The furniture has to be comfortable, durable and in accordance to the scheme. Even though the data is digitalized in present times, there is still paperwork and books and many other things that would require storage. So, the furniture should cover this aspect. Also, a book/magazine/newspaper shelf is a basic requirement of any office.
Choose the partitions carefully
Depending on the theme of your office, the partitions should be chosen. You can keep an open plan and yet differentiate between the spaces with rugs. The spaces can also be flexible with movable screens and writing boards, which can be used to form cubicle like arrangement but at other times it can be placed aside and make it a discussion area. The glass partition is mostly used to achieve transparent partition and it also makes the office area look spacious. Walls are the solid partitions commonly considered for spaces that need privacy and no disturbance.
Bring in the target audience
Bring in the community. Work with the local artists or product designers. This spreads the word of your office faster than you realize. You can also float competitions to select from the locals and see that your ideas of the company align. You can also collaborate with globally renowned artists or manufacturing companies to get what you want for your office.
Personalized spaces
Let the employees design their desks, cubicles, cabins or offices. According to a study, this would increase their creativity and productivity. It gives them a feeling of possession and belonging for the office, where they are going to spend most of the time of their day.
Stationery, it may seem trivial but is available on all tables. To personalize the stationery can also give a unifying look with minimal efforts.
Corporate houses and business ventures take extra care in keeping their offices up to date. The little details in office décor can make a large difference. There are many brands that give wall art and furniture on rent. This way you can have a changing look of your office, which is beneficial to those where the clients visit frequently. Even for the employees the working space makes a huge difference. It should be a place they want to be in, and not somewhere they are compelled to be in.
